Independence Day Dinner

Celebrate the 4'th of July(Wednesday) with dinner while you cruise the Grand Canal in the unique floating restaurant La Peniche. Dinghy Fleet Upgrade
We have ordered three Laser Vagos and they are now in Belfast. They will be delivered next week. If anybody would be available for an hour at lunchtime (probably Friday) to help unload please let me know.


Yacht Purchase

The "Project Purtycrew are busy checking out a suitable yacht for cruising. A number of meetings have taken place (in the Purty) and a number of yachts have been visited from Fenit to Arklow to Malahide to Dun LaoghaireMore news shortly.

 

RAYC 150 Regatta - June 16

There is a once off regatta this month to celebrate the 150'th anniversary of the Royal Alfred Yacht Club.

Dinghy Racing: (PY Class) Saturday June 16. Start is at 1pm Let me know this weekend if you wish to take part

No previous racing experience required.

 

Lambay Race

The Ruffian is off to Howth this weekend for the Lambay race.
The plan is sail to Howth on Friday, take part in the Lambay race on Saturday and make the return trip on Sunday.

 

DBSC Ruffian Racing

Our Ruffian "Ruffin'it" Sail number IR472 is entered into the Dublin Bay Sailing Club summer series.  Since early May fourteen member have been racing in the Tuesday series. The the results can be checked at www.dbsc.org. As the summer progresses we also plann to take part in Thursday and Saturday races.  Racing is open to all club members (no experience required), and it is a good way to build your sailing skill and have some fun.  Race fees are covered by the members taking part i.e. ~e8 per race or ~e40 for the season. If you are interested in coming along please contact Bronagh.

 

Ruffian National Championship

The Ruffian Nationals take place on 22/23/24 June. There are two races on Friday afternoon, three on Saturday and two on Sunday. (3 crews of 5 required).  This was a great event last year, so don't miss out! Crewing is open to all members - no experience required.  Contact Damien  ASAP if you are interested.

There is also a championship dinner (e35) in the DMYC on the Saturday night - anyone interested in coming along?

 

Sailing Now at 6.30 Mondays
Start times of Ruffian and Dinghy sailing on Mondays will be 6.30 for the next few weeks.
A number of hardworking people indicated in our survey that they could not make 6.00 sessions, so hopefully this will allow you get in some evening sailing.

Brenda O'Connell has taken over as Membership Secretary as Ralph is otherwise engaged.

The AGM will be held until July as soon as we have our accounts finalised.
