Dinghy
Racing
Winter is closing in (sigh) and the dinghy summer racing season is now over. Here is a report from Wyn on the final few races.
There were three Saturdays of DBSC dinghy racing in September. Well done to Nicola and Jo who had the best result in the second race on the 13th coming in 2nd place out of 4 entries. Congratulations again to Simon and crew who came 1st four times during the season and 2nd out of 12 on another - a remarkable achievement.
Ruffian
Racing
The DBSC racing season has now finished. Although Ruffin It did not compete during the second half of the season due to that unfortunate incident with the mast, a creative interpretation of the final results table reveals that we nevertheless came in joint 13th in a field of 25....
An
end of season message from Damien:
Thanks for your participation in DBSC
Ruffian racing during the year and your understanding since the de-masting of
Ruffin It.
25 people took part in racing this year which is a record number. The total fee collected was e868.28 (25 by 35
minus 6.72 paypal fees). The entry fee was e602.50 for DBSC and e75 for the
Ruffian
association leaving a surplus of 190.78.
If there is no objection I intend to donate this to the RNLI.
I would like to have any feedback on the racing i.e. organisation, room for improvement etc. The future of Ruffin It is to be discussed soon so please reply with any comments as soon as possible.

Frostbite
Training
A training weekend in preparation for the Frostbites was organised by Jo on the 18th and 19th of October.
from Mags:
Thanks to Wyn, Simon and Jo for a really super
frostbite training session last Saturday! Winds were fairly gusty so it was a
tough introduction for most of us with a scattering of capsizes and close
encounters, but a great exercise in race starts and rules of the road.
A second training session will take place on Saturday November 8th.

Winter Sailing

A
survey of club members was recently carried out in order to determine member
interest in overnight trips away over the closing months of 2008. A good
response was received with members indicating their preferred dates,
destinations and thoughts. It is hoped, subject to the usual constraints, to
offer occasional overnight trips over this period in addition to some weekend
day sailing. Anyone with further thoughts on this topic should contact
